The Saddest News

...is that we lost our oldest Pet "Hope" last night. We had to have her put down. She had a suspected twisted stomach and at 17 years of age the Vet didn't think she would survive the ordeal of surgery and probably wouldn't recover from the effects, so it was necessary.

I have to say that she was the longest standing friend Michael has had, she was adopted from the Dogs Home in Hobart by Michael's first wife and so predates our relationship and she has been there through it all for Michael.

It was very hard on us both but mercifully it was all within the space of an hour from when she acquired the injury till she was over the rainbow chasing slow running rabbits and living her daydreams. Well that's how Michael told me it would be and I am quite happy to think of it that way.

At least she is out of pain and not suffering anymore, it was just so hard to watch her in pain when she was never a sooky dog, very tollerant and too happy to please, just a lovely big puppydog.

So we are getting her cremated so that she will always be with the family and in our thoughts. The thought of her being buried in a mass grave with so many others was too aweful to think about and it is the least we can do for a dog that until the last few years hasn't cost us much at all and gave so much love back. Here's to you "Hope", our fur-angelbaby.
Rest in peace, we love you and miss you so much.
